How to Query:

*Note: Because I am very behind on my queries, I will be closing after February 7, 2024 until I catch up (or at least finish my queries from 2023). I’m sorry if you were hoping to query after 2/7 and I appreciate your patience. For updates please check back here to see if this note has been removed or pop on my QueryManager page to see if it’s live.

Before you query, please check out my wishlist page to make sure your work is a good fit for me. I am open to queries from the 1st to the 7th of each month and closed for the remainder of the month.

While we ask that you query only one agent within GZLA at a time, I encourage you to submit your work to other agencies simultaneously.

One day I hope to be responding to all queries within 6 weeks, but I am currently several months behind so please take that into consideration when choosing a GZLA agent. I apologize for my delay in advance!

If you queried me several months ago and you’re feeling anxious about whether I received your query, feel free to send me a nudge via the email feature on QM and I’ll do my best to respond.

Query Manager

  • I prefer that folks query me through Query Manager. Please fill out the form on my page to submit your query.

Email

  • If for accessibility reasons you need to query by email, you can send your query to ErinQueries@galltzacker.com.

  • In the subject line, please write your last name and the title of your manuscript (if you illustrate but don’t write, write your last name and the word ILLUSTRATOR). Then, in the body of the e-mail, include a query letter with the following:

    • What your manuscript is about or a description of your artistry

    • A short bio (please include your website if you have one)

    • A sample of your work keeping the following in mind:

      • If you are a writer, include the first 2000 words of your manuscript (or full picture book text) pasted in the body of the e-mail (no attachments).

      • If you are an illustrator, author/illustrator, or graphic novelist, please include a link to your website or online portfolio.

      • If you have a dummy or sample illustration pages available and they cannot be accessed online, you are welcome to attach that as a PDF. Otherwise, again, do not include attachments.
